TideCheck respects your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect and how we use it.

Information We Collect

We do not collect personal information. TideCheck does not require user accounts, registration, or login. We do not ask for your name, email address, or any other personally identifiable information.

Automatically Collected Data

Like most websites, our hosting infrastructure may automatically log basic request information including:

• IP address
• Browser type and version
• Pages visited and request timestamps
• Referring URL

This data is used solely for maintaining service reliability and diagnosing technical issues. It is not used for tracking or profiling.

Local Storage

TideCheck uses your browser's local storage to save your datum preference (LAT, MLLW, or MSL). This data is stored entirely on your device and is never transmitted to our servers.

Cookies

TideCheck does not set its own cookies for tracking or analytics. However, third-party services we use may set cookies on your device: the advertising cookies described in the "Advertising" section below (Google AdSense), and security-related cookies set by our hosting provider (Cloudflare) as part of their standard infrastructure.

Advertising

TideCheck displays advertisements provided by Google AdSense, a third-party advertising service. In connection with serving ads:

• Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to TideCheck and other websites.
• Google's advertising cookies enable Google and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this and/or other sites on the internet.
• Advertising partners may collect information such as your IP address, device and browser information, and interactions with ads in order to deliver and measure advertising.

If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, you may be shown non-personalized ads where consent for personalized advertising has not been provided.

Analytics

TideCheck uses Counter.dev, a privacy-friendly analytics service, to collect anonymous page view statistics. Counter.dev does not use cookies, does not collect personal data, and does not track individual users across sites.

Third-Party Services

When you search for a place name, your query is sent to the OpenStreetMap Nominatim geocoding service to resolve coordinates. This request is subject to OpenStreetMap's privacy policy.

Data Sharing

We do not sell or trade your personal information. As described in the "Advertising" section above, our third-party advertising partner (Google) and its ad partners independently collect and process data through advertising cookies when ads are served. Apart from the third-party services described in this policy, we do not share user data with third parties.

Children's Privacy

TideCheck does not knowingly collect any information from children under 13.

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected on this page with an updated date.
