By accessing and using TideCheck (tidecheck.com), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use. If you do not agree with any part of these terms, please do not use this website.
The TideCheck website provides tide predictions and related environmental data for informational purposes. You may browse the website for personal, non-commercial purposes subject to these terms. You agree not to:
The TideCheck API allows authorized users to access tide prediction data programmatically. By using the API, you agree to the following additional terms:
Access to the API requires a valid API key obtained through the TideCheck dashboard. API keys are personal to your account and may not be shared or transferred. You are responsible for all activity under your API key. If you believe your key has been compromised, revoke it immediately and generate a new one.
API subscribers may use TideCheck data in commercial applications, including public-facing websites, mobile apps, and other digital products. This includes displaying tide predictions as part of a larger product or service (e.g., surf forecasts, fishing apps, marine planning tools).
All applications that display TideCheck data must include visible attribution to TideCheck. Acceptable formats include "Tide data by TideCheck" or "Powered by TideCheck" with a link to tidecheck.com. Attribution must be legible and placed near the displayed data.
Each API tier has a daily request limit as described on the Developers page. Exceeding your tier's rate limit may result in temporary throttling or suspension. We reserve the right to restrict access to ensure fair usage and service availability for all users.
You may cache API responses on your own infrastructure for up to 24 hours to reduce redundant requests. Cached data must not be served beyond this period without refreshing from the API.
You may not:
The API is provided on a best-effort basis for Free, Starter, and Pro tiers. Business tier subscribers receive an SLA as described in their subscription terms. We aim for high availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted service.
We may suspend or revoke API access for violations of these terms, abusive usage patterns, or non-payment. If your paid subscription is cancelled, API access will continue until the end of your current billing period.
The TideCheck website design, code, and branding are the property of their respective owners. Harmonic constituent data is derived from publicly available sources (NOAA CO-OPS, TICON-4, FES2022) and the underlying prediction algorithms are based on established oceanographic methods. See our About & Sources page for full details.
This service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. Tide predictions are for informational purposes only and are not suitable for navigation. See our Disclaimer for full details.
In no event shall TideCheck or its operators be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of or inability to use the service, including but not limited to damages resulting from reliance on tide predictions, API downtime, or data inaccuracies.
We reserve the right to modify these terms at any time. Continued use of the website or API after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
These terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with applicable laws, without regard to conflict of law principles.
